Offered for sale is the original art from the comic book CEREBUS drawn by Dave Sim and Gerhard. This comic book panel page was published as page 8 of issue 258 of the CEREBUS comic book, published in September, 2000 by Aardvark-Vanaheim Comics. The illustration board measures approximately 17.5 tall by 11.5 wide. It is signed "Dave Sim" and "Gerhard" at the top above the art. This is the original art (rendered in pen and ink over pencil/graphite) for this comic book page, written and drawn by Dave Sim and Gerhard. This striking page from part 27 of the "Going Home" story arc features a stunning image of Murchison Falls and a flying machine. This beautifully designed and detailed page shows Sim and Gerhard at the height of their artistic skills. I was the first owner of this page after the creators. You will be the second. Cerebus is a unique achievement in the history of comic books. The series is a 300 issue comic book series created by Canadian cartoonist Dave Sim, which ran from December 1977 until March 2004 and is still the longest running creator-owned comic series.
The series stands out for its experimentation in form and content, and for the dexterity of its artwork, especially after background artist (and cover colorist) Gerhard joined in with the 65th issue. This page from "Cerebus: Form & Void" features a large scene at the top of the page penciled and inked by Gerhard using his characteristic crosshatching style. The birds in the second panel and all of the lettering were penciled and inked by Dave Sim.
The art is on Bainbridge 172 illustration board measuring 11.5"x17.5" with an image area of 10"x15". The page is signed by both artists. This is the first time this page has been offered for sale. Comic Book and Artist Information.
Is an independently published 300 issue comic book series written and drawn (assisted by Gerhard in the later issues) by Dave Sim, which began in 1977 and ended in 2004. It has featured fantasy/sword and sorcery, satire, political and social commentary, and much more. Sometimes humorous, sometimes controversial, always entertaining, the series is a landmark in comic book history. 1956 is a Canadian comic book writer and artist best known as the creator of CEREBUS and as an advocate for independent publishers and creator rights.
Though sometimes controversial for the views expressed in the series, Sim is a truly gifted creator and a titan of the graphic arts. The art is in excellent condition on illustration board. No stats, paste-ups or white out corrections. There is a white'cover sheet' taped to the art board at the top; it is folded over for the photos.
