Peanuts Original Comic Metal Printing Plate Topless Charlie Brown! C Schulz Art
And check out OUR NEWLY LISTED ITEMS. This is an original metal printing plate for the classic newspaper comics strip Peanuts, by the legendary Charles M. Schultz legendary writer and artist of the Peanuts strip, and creator of Snoopy, Charly Brown, Woodstock, Linus, Lucy, Peppermint Patty, Pigpen, Schroeder, Marcie, Sally, Franklin, Rerun, etc. This is actually a printing plate for one of the foreign language versions of the strip (which means the art is the same, but the wording has been changed for syndication). I believe this is for the overseas version which is titled "Radiserne". 1976 by United Features Syndicate Inc. Please note that this lettering, as well as the rest of the strip is in reverse, since printing plates have the image reversed from how it will look once the final product is printed. The plate measures approximately 9 1/8" by 2 1/4". The plate looks to be in very good condition, and appears to be complete.
The second picture shows how this particular strip appeared in print in the English version, but please note this is for reference only and is not included. While there are many millions of the printed strips in circulation, how many people can actually say they own one of the original Printing Plates used to actually make the strip? So there may not be many surviving Peanuts plates, which would of course make this piece even rarer. And plates for the international strips are likely even harder to find in existence. Finally, besides the fact that any Peanuts plate that you can find would be a great piece to have simply for what it is and the inherent rarity, it should also be mentioned that this is a truly outstanding example of the strip, with great images of the leading character Charlie Brown in all 4 panels, and it's a rare and classic baseball example, with Charlie Brown on the pitching mound taking off his shirt! Has Charlie Brown ever appeared in another Peanuts strip without a shirt on???
