AL WILLIAMSON Secret Agent Corrigan (Dec 8, 1979) Exceptional 2-panel strip
Al Williamson was one of the greatest comic book and comic strip artists of the 20th century. His work has drawn much admiration from fans and professionals alike, including his work for EC Comics, where Frank Frazetta and Roy Krenkle were contemporaries, through his work for Warren Magazines in the 1960s and 1970s, and his stunning art work for the graphic adaptations of The Empire Strikes Back and Blade Runner.
In 1967, Al took over the Secret Agent X-9 comic strip that had been started by Alex Raymond in the 1930s, rechristening it Secret Agent Corrigan , and giving it a certain camp feel as Phil Corrigan, an American version of James Bond, fought threats to national security, including aliens in spaceships, dinosaurs, and his eponymous antagonist Dr Seven (who bore a distinct resemblance to Ming the Merciless). Except this is no fog, and soon both Phil and Dr Seven will be in the realm of Mr Neptune, who likes to unwind with a good Jules Verne book..
