Offered for sale is the original artwork for the comic book KURT BUSIEK'S ASTRO CITY by Kurt Busiek (writer), Brent Anderson pencils; b. 1955 and Will Blyberg (inks).
Art Type: Comic book panel page original artwork. 2, issue 1, page 12.

Medium: Pen and ink over pencil/graphite on art board. Red ink in final panel (which indicated a lightning bolt in the printed comic).

Publication Date: September 1996 (cover date). Dimensions: 17.625" tall by 12" wide (board dimensions; image slightly smaller). Description: This is the original artwork for Kurt Busiek's Astro City Vol. 2, issue 1, page 12 by Anderson and Blyberg.

Written by Kurt Busiek, pencils by Brent Anderson and inks by Will Blyberg. The story in which this page appears is titled "Welcome to Astro City". The page features Jack in the Box capturing burglars, Crackerjack and Quarrel on patrol and an excited TV station manager ordering his mobile teams out into the streets. The page was reprinted on page 26 of the Astro City Family Album hardcover book (Homage 1998). As a new family moves from Boston to Astro City (and has their first interaction with superheroes), and a'man in the street' news reporter asks folks why they live in Astro City, the cosmic entity Thunderhead attacks and threatens to destroy Astro City while searching for his lost wife.
Honor Guard, the Irregulars and First Family take on Thunderhead, and many other heroes appear on the streets to help maintain order and help anyone injured by the battle raging overhead. Jack in the Box takes down looters with his confetti while Crackerjack and Quarrel swing by on patrol. An all-action page of beautifully rendered artwork from Anderson and Blyberg. Great stuff from an Eisner and Harvey Award winning top creative team.

The art is in excellent overall condition. Creator pencil notes to margins. Red ink to reverse (probably practice strokes with the red ink used for lightning effect).
