Offered for sale is the original artwork for the comic book KURT BUSIEK'S ASTRO CITY by Kurt Busiek (writer) and Jesus Merino artist; b. This art was published as page 10 of ASTRO CITY Volume 3, Issue 22. Art Type: Comic book panel original artwork. Medium: Pen and ink over blue pencil/graphite on DC Comics/Vertigo art board. The story is titled "Hero's Reward" and tells the tale of Duncan Keller aka Starfighter, who taps into the Lorus to use his powers for good, on Earth, on his new home-world of Jarranatha (where he lives with his wife, the Empress, and their children), and elsewhere in the universe. This page depicts Duncan, feeling that he is near retirement, reminiscing about the Vietnam War and his first contact with the Lorus (which apparently only he can see) on a temple in the jungle. Once he is able to recreate the symbol, he taps into its powers, and begins his career as Starfighter. Beautifully rendered page by Jesus Merino. The page was reprinted on page 44 of the Vertigo hardcover book Astro City Volume 13: Honor Guard (Vertigo/Juke Box 2016) as shown in the final photo (the book is not included).
