Calvin And Hobbes Bill Watterson 1989 Original Comic Production Art Page Dailies
And check out OUR NEWLY LISTED ITEMS. This is a rare original printed production art page for Calvin and Hobbes, the all-time classic newspaper strip written and illustrated by the legendary Bill Watterson. This is a sheet from Universal Press Syndicate that contains a full week (October 30 - November 4) of episodes from 1989, including some truly classic images of Calvin and Hobbes together. Each episode is a classic example of the legendary off-beat and incredibly distinctive humor that made Calvin and Hobbes one of the most beloved strips in the history of syndication. It features great images throughout the entire page, and I believe features Calvin in nearly every single panel on the page! The page has been folded down the middle, which was commonly done with syndicate pages. There is also what looks like a very small amount of reddish printer ink towards the middle right side edge margin. Please note that this is NOT a mass-produced print, lithograph, or poster reproduction. It is an original printed production art page that was created during the production process for the comic strip. Calvin & Hobbes was one of the greatest comic strips ever, and items such as this are highly sought-after and tough to find on the open market. This is a very cool and rare comic collectible that you will hardly ever get a chance to see, and would be an outstanding addition to the collection of any C&H fan. It would look fantastic framed and prominently displayed. Please note that this is an authentic piece from the 1980's, not something made for a later reprint or collection book. We have been told there are reprint production art pieces being listed by other sellers that make them seem to be old and from original printings, even though they are not for example, older production art did not have the words on a separate sheet from the images. Those kinds of things were only done much more recently, using computer technology. We advise buyers to be careful, as there are disreputable sellers tricking many people into believing they are purchasing items that are older and more valuable than what they actually are.
Some sellers simply do not state their items are from reprints, while others make very long listings and put a tiny mention about reprints buried deep in the listing, and/or use a hard-to-read font color (like yellow) to prevent buyers from seeing this information. Unfortunately, everything else in the listing the title, pictures of the cover of the comic from the 1st printing, etc. This item is a genuine piece from the'80's, not something made for a reprint.
