John Romita 1979 Amazing Spiderman Original Newspaper Comic Strip Art Stan Lee
A fantastic example from one of the greatest writer/artist combinations in comic history, with Spidey and a webbed-up Prowler in all 3 panels! Romita was the first artist to draw the Prowler, as he first appeared in Amazing Spiderman #78 and was apparently the result of a suggestion by John Romita Jr. Many years before he followed in his father's footsteps to also become a legendary comic book artist! Is quite simply one of the greatest artists in the history of comics, who is best-known for following Steve Ditko with his own classic run on Amazing Spider-Man together with Stan Lee.
He has done decades of classic work, from the 1960's, 1970's, and beyond, and has probably drawn pretty much every major Marvel character at one point or another, including Daredevil, Captain America, the Fantastic Four, the Hulk, the Avengers, Thor, the Defenders, and more. But it is probably Spidey that he will always be best-remembered for and most closely linked to. Another thing that's particularly awesome about this piece is that it is drawn 100% on art board. Many of Romita's pieces over the years were done on vellum, and then pasted onto board. It is rare to get an opportunity at a piece like this on the open market, as they rarely surface for sale, and this is a truly outstanding example, probably one of the best you're ever going to find, with spectacular images of Spidey and The Prowler together in every single panel! This is an exceptional piece of artwork, that would look outstanding framed, and would be a true key piece in any collection.
