Original Art (Page 1) From Gil Thorp #1 (Dell Comics) July 1963

  

This piece of original art is page 1 of the single 1963 issue of Dell Comics' "Gil Thorp, " based on Jack Berrill's long-running comic strip centered on a high school coach. The artist is not Jack Berrill and is possibly Ed Robbins, as his name and mailing address are written at top of the page. I have posted a photo of the comic and the printed page to show how it looked in published form. "Gil Thorp" #1 is not included in the sale. The page itself is 14.5" long and 23" tall; the art is 12.25" x 15.5". The logo is pasted on the page and some white-out has been used to correct changes in the script. There are notations on top and bottom of the page as is typical of original art, and the back has one piece of masking tape on all four sides (presumably to hold down the art to the drawing board). A nicely inked page reminiscent of Milton Caniff. Please see my other listings for more titles and other collectibles! Pack with care, the way I would want to receive items.
