Preacher comic Steve Dillon Garth Ennis Starr crossed original page art AMC
Original hand-drawn art by Steve Dillon for Preacher #38 p. This scene shows Starr after he is rescued by the Hillbilly Cannibals. All 5 panels on the page have a shot of Starr. The final panel has that unforgettable visage of a shocked and horrified Herr Starr when he opens the "Cheese Monthly" magazine and thinks his captors are going to rape him.
Lucky for the hapless Starr... They plan on just eating him. Since the untimely passing of Mr. Dillon in October 2016, interest in his original artwork has risen markedly.
AMC's instant cult classic adaptation is also creating a whole new fanbase interested in owning artwork from the comic. Preacher is one of the best and most groundbreaking comic books of the 1990s, and was the homerun of DC's Vertigo line (Vertigo was DC's somewhat risky venture into non-superhero books that were not Comic Code compliant). Preacher spawned and inspired a host of popular series, such as Walking Dead and Crossed. The colored images I provided are from the comic book, which will be thrown in as well. The art page is bright white and in excellent condition as it has been stored in acid-free plastic and in a climate-controlled environment for nearly two decades. The comic has been too.
