Sam Kieth Batman Original Artwork Splash Page Art DC Comics Maxx Image Marvel
Here is an original piece of comic book artwork from legendary artist Sam Kieth not Keith! From Batman Confidential issue 40 from 2010. It is a splash page with a FULL Batman on it! Drawn on full/regular size DC Comics board (as you can see in the photo of the back of the piece), in pencil first, then inked over and then lovingly hand colored with pencil crayons, felt markers, watercolor and gauche.
It's obvious many, many paintstaking hours went into the creation of this one of a kind art. Check out all of the layers and detail to his work. No artist commits the time and energy to create such impressive work.
The subject matter of an obviously dying or severely beat up Batman is not something you see every day either, adding to its uniqueness. As you can see in the black and white photo, this was obtained directly from Sam as there he is holding up the artboard itself.
The added background you see in the actual printed page was done in Photoshop which is why you don't see it on the artwork itself.
