SILVER SURFER sketch by Marie Severin circa 1978 signed Marvel Comics Art FF
Vintage sketch of the Silver Surfer by the first lady of comics, Marie Severin. Marie did quite a few sketches over the years, but rarely of the Silver Surfer. I bought this from the original owner, who wrote, If I remember correctly, she sketched for a whole bunch of us--I was in the Pittsburgh Comix Club, which put on the convention at Monroeville Mall--and she drew this at dinner at a Brown Derby restaurant in the mall. I think it was either 1977 or 1978.
The 8.5 x 11 inch paper on which it was drawn is lightweight and has some condition issues. There are a couple of chips out of the edges and a tiny hole on the left side (away from the art), as well as a tape mark on the bottom edge. (See photo) The drawing itself is clear and sharp.
